Concussion.
A concussion is a type of mild traumatic brain injury. It happens when a forceful blow to the head or an injury makes the head move back and forth.
Symptoms of a concussion fall into four categories: Physical, emotional/mood, sleep, and cognitive-communication.
SLPs are trained to assess and treat cognitive-communication disorders caused by concussions. Are you experiencing difficulties with any of the following ?
Paying attention, especially in a distracting environment.
Understanding conversations, instructions, or following along in meetings and lectures.
Expressing yourself clearing.
Forgetting the word.
Problem-solving and decision-making.
Remembering conversations or information
Dividing your attention between two or more activities.
Reading and retaining information from paragraphs and long texts (e.g. articles, books, work materials, textbooks)
Formulating ideas and organizing when writing emails, reports, etc.
Planning, prioritizing and organizing information.
