Voice Therapy.
A voice disorder can occur at any age. It is a problem with pitch, volume, tone, and other qualities of the voice.
Voice disorders in children may be the result of:
excessive shouting or talking
excessive use of harsh voice (eg. play noises and sound effects)
excessive coughing and common childhood infections.
Before a speech therapist begins treatment, an evaluation by an Ear, Nose and Throat Doctor (ENT) is necessary to diagnose the vocal issue. The Speech-Language Pathologist can then develop an appropriate treatment plan in conjunction with the ENT’s diagnosis.
If your child has seen an ENT and voice therapy is recommended, you can easily book an in-person or virtual appointment on our website.
